Day 2 in Hell. Ring them bells

Hell's Bells
Yeah, Hell's Bells
You got me ringing Hell's Bells

Day 1 was not easy. I knew I was going to be put to the test right away from my boss. She was in town for annual review and we were scheduled for dinner that night. I knew there would be some reaction from her as she is a firm believer in the after work cocktail. Thus she was shocked when after she ordered her Cosmopolitan, I just ordered water. For a second I thought that freaky little Caulkin boy was in front of me. But after the explanation and being told I was crazy, the conversation went on.

Until the very attractive blond girl sat down in the booth behind my boss. I saw her walk up, set he glass of wine on the table, and slide into the booth. My first thought was Damn, nice rack! Berrrrrriiittttzzkeeeee! Wow, what is a beautiful girl like that doing by herself? Maybe she is having dinner with her equally attractive sister? Then some dude walked up and slid in next to her. Fuck!

Our dinner had arrived at this time but I couldn't help but keep looking over at the blonde. It was a nice view. I guess I kept looking because suddenly my boss asked "What is so exciting over there?" and turned to look. She just chuckled. I was busted. Hey, arrest me! It was a very attractive girl. I was hoping I could get her for dessert.

Later on the news, I was surprised to hear about some lawsuits that were being filed against FEMA. Apparently the "victims" of hurricane Katrina (yes, I think to still call them victims at this time isn't right) are suing to they can keep their free lodging in Houston and free lodging on some cruise ships that were stationed in New Orleans. They noted they were allowed to stay for 6 months on the governments dime. But now they must find their own place to stay or pay for where they are at.

So of course, they sue. People that have no money, no home, and limited belongings are getting lawyers and suing the government so they do not have to pay for anything? Unbelievable. I guess what I really would like to know is what have these people done to get their lives back together? I get the impression that they have been sitting on their asses, waiting for their homes to be rebuilt in New Orleans so they can go back. I have the feeling they expect to go back to NO and have a brand new house to live in. Paid for by the government.

I want to know what they have done on the cruise ship or while staying in Houston. I would have to think that Houston's unemployment rate must be close to zero. (Note: I googled the info and found that they influx of people made the rate rise. Ok, that makes sense. However, it made the unemployment rate jump only .5%. One key term to note here is the rate is based on people looking for a job. It seems people haven't really looked or the rate would have gone down). Same thing should be happening in New Orleans. There were vast opportunities for people to work but the jobs were taking by those who wanted to take advantage of what happened.

I say they should be kicked out. They will never recover unless they are forced to fend for themselves. Then again, when left to fend for themselves before, the residents resorted to looting.

Damn, I just may be one angry sober dude! I noticed that I missed a dial-a-shot from Al last night (guess he hasn't heard the news) that maybe that added fuel to the first. So help me lighten up a bit and go visit one happy drunk bartender in the meantime...here is Terry, my favorite bartender on the East Coast.
