Mean sober person
I think sobriety has had an effect on me. Some people can be mean drunks. I have become a mean sober person.
Well, not all the time. Just certain cases. If something irks me, I am more liable to speak my mind on it. Usually it is a minor annoyance. Sometimes though it is something I have been thinking for a while and decided to just throw out there. I do find myself instigating a bit more in other areas too.
The thing about it is I have nothing to gain either way. Good thing I can keep a bunch of this in check.
Yesterday I didn't keep it in check. At least not in my mind. I had to hit the grocery store. I had polished off the chicken for dinner (Showtime rocks on with it's bad self!) and had no food in the house. The grocery store is always fodder for weird people and stories. I love the place.
As I was walking down the aisles, I found myself looking at people and playing the First judgment game. Within seconds I would summarize what these people were about, the first impression. The first couple I walked into were running back to the free coffee area. They each had their little 4 oz cup in their hand and needed a refill. I bet if I watched them close enough they would be stealing grapes too.
Next was the bitchy teenager. She went walking by with her mother in the meat section. The tone of her voice and how she spoke annoyed me. If I had to spend any time by her, I would have taken a ham and smacked her with it. Speaking of ham, I bought some hamdingers yesterday. Remember hamdingers? Hamburgers made with ham. I know you will be cursing me later because that jingle will be stuck in your head. The hamdingers work well for omelets. Chop them up, add some onion and green pepper, stand back for the flip, add cheese and breakfast is served.
On my way to get some kraut for the brats, I ran into spit woman. She was playing some game with her kid in the cart. I think she gave her a raspberry. Now the kid was maybe 3 or 4 and tried to razz her back but spit in her face. I thought it was funny, but mom or grandmom, didn't. She was short of yelling at the kid for spitting in her face, giving her a stern lecture. Idiot parent/grandparent. The little girl was just trying to mimic you. Get over it.
Seeing how I wasn't really inspired and couldn't find anything great to eat, I decided to get out. At the checkouts, the lines seemed rather deep for a Wednesday night. I had to make a choice. I could get in line behind the mother with 4 snot-nosed kids of racial question, or the lady who appeared to be feeding 5 families and had a retarded kid in tow. I chose the 5 family lady. The kids looked to be very annoying as they climbed all over the cart and I knew just watching them might piss me off a bit. It was a good choice as apparently the welfare mom had a problem with her food stamps and that held up the line. Meanwhile, the lady in front of me finally emptied the cart and gave me a smile as if she was sorry she had so much stuff and I had to wait. Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. I can wait.
Before I got home I picked up an old friend. That is a story for tomorrow.
The Brewers swept the Pirates last night. Good way to start the season. However fans may be getting ahead of themselves already. Rookie first baseman Prince Fielder was being criticized for striking out on Opening Day. 4 ABs, 4Ks. Second game, 2 more Ks. And people are upset. It was 2 freakin' games! Let the kid get into his groove. He will and then you will forget about this performance. Hopefully the game winning RBI last night is the first step.
But Brewers fans need a bit of perspective here. It was just the Pirates. And the Crew needed some errors from Pitt to win. They need to play better baseball if the playoffs are to be achieved. It is a nice start and hopefully the beginning to a exciting season.

The grocery store kills me, there is a story in every aisle. The thing I hate most is the way people park at the front door to run in and get one item, they end up buying 40.
I thought you weren't going to tell anyone!
Prince will be just fine. I am a little worried about Turnbow. Three saves in three days is great. But he put the tying runners in scoring position the last two nights.
I must agree with the title of this one!!! Can't wait until you return to "normal".... Whatever "normal" is!

That is what Turnbow does. He is not a shut them down closer. He will walk people and put himself in trouble.
